Web 2.0

Before I started reading this activity I didn't know the difference between Web 1.0 and Web 2.0. After reading over the information and watching the YouTube videos, I now know the different between them and what they have to offer. People on the internet today are not looking for just information, but they are also looking for an experience online. Web 1.0 constantly has to update information for people that are seeking the information. Web 2.0 has a responsibility to keep the internet up to date, and to keep the people looking for the information engaged in what they are researching. Web 2.0 is not just a place to share your information, but a place where you can gather together and interact with different people.

I believe that the tools Web 2.0 has to offer are a great resource to use in the classroom. Wiki to me is a great tool to teachers so that they can interact with one another on the student, but also they could collaborate on the lessons that they are teaching in their classrooms. Social Bookmarking is in the same boat as Wiki, teachers and also students can share their information with one another that they have found useful to them online. Voice Thread is a great tool to use in an activity, which would keep the students engaged in what they are learning and also an overall fun way for them to share what they have learned.  These tools are not only away to interact with your fellow teachers and students, but also a creative way to stay engaged in what is being learned in the classroom.

  1. Isn't it amazing that "today" just having information isn't enough?! I'm going to date myself by saying this but I do remember life before web 2.0. Heck I remember dos computers, so yes web 2.0 is an evolutionary form of communication, learning platform, and existence!
I agree with you that web 2.0 is a great resource for classrooms. I think it's amazing that in today's world we can actually teach and learn "online" and web 2.0 truly has made that a realization by having the ability to interact and share ideas and beliefs with each other. It's great! :)

  3. Before this assignment I had no idea what Web 2.0 Tools were other than just helpful websites. I agree with you about the people being online for more than information because there's just something about being online that gives you a whole different feeling and it is entertaining. When I was in high school we used Wiki a lot, but not much else. It wasn't until my last year in high school that we even used any presentation tool outside of a computer class, but that was when Prezi started up and that was a fantastic one to use for making a presentation.

  4. Yes Web 2.0 is a great resource for people who really don't know what they are looking for on the Web some people needs a extra push to see what else is out there in this world. WIKI was new to me because I usually send a bunch of emails or texts to a lot of people and get different response but if we all see what we are doing and we all can contribute to it that would help us out a lot!! 5. When I graduated High School in 2005 I went on to work for a Bank as a computer tech. I was that computer knowledgeable that they took me on without a degree. After several years of working on computers I decided that I did not want to do that anymore. I am now a photographer and really like what I am doing, but now that I have been out of the loop on the most up to date information. I feel like a novice and I was just as surprised that there was a Web 1.0 and now a Web 2.0. Technology moves tht quickly. Glad I took this class.
